IMPORTANCE OF HUMILITY IN LEADERSHIP

We all have experienced at least one point in my life where the leadership is arrogant, egoistical, rude or even downright manipulative. Such a working environment creates discord , disconnect, confusion, anxiety and many more associated negative feelings. It's a workspace which limits your creativity and makes you question yourself. 

On the other hand, how many of us have experienced a leader who is humble , an active listener , a mentor who is supportive and a human being who is inherently kind and empathic. 

Traits exhibited by humble leaders can be as follows 

• They seek ideas from others

• They admit and learn from their mistakes

• They bring out the best in others and let them shine

• They are teachable and understand they can learn something from anyone

• They ask good questions and embrace feedback

• They encourage and reward collaboration

• They are the first to take responsibility and the last to take credit.

Benefits of being a humble leader can translate into happier and more productive employees. When they feel they are heard , valued and respected their internal motivation to do well in their job will automatically increase. 

Humility in leadership will also give everyone in the team the confidence to be open to constructive feedback and create a more learning environment for everyone present. A leader who accepts and works upon themselves sets a great precedent for others in his or her team. 

Life gives all of us an opportunity to be leaders in some form or another. This creates a chance for us to act with humility and have a positive influence on others around us.
